Sarah Daniels sings title role in world premier of CHUNKY IN HEAT with Experiments in Opera

Experiments in Opera and Contemporaneous present the premiere of Chunky in Heat an opera based on a libretto by celebrated author A. M. Homes.  Chunky in Heat tells the story of a girl who comes of age poolside at her family’s home in the canyons of Los Angeles. The magical thinking of youth comes undone after her brother dies and she realizes what the word “dream” in American Dream really means.  Chunky in Heat features music by Jason CadyPaula MatthusenErin RogersAaron SiegelShelley Washington and Matthew Welch. This production is directed by Alison Moritz.

I will be performing works by Leonard Bernstein, Joaquin Turina, Richard Strauss, Darius Milhaud, George Gershwin, and others with piano accompaniment by Sophia Vastek. J:D Band Premiere

Location: Greenfield Hall at the Manhattan School of Music, NYC (122nd & Broadway)

J:D, an indie pop/ rock orchestra who will play a set of sweet, sad love songs including favorites like "I Think I'm in Love." These arrangements are inspired by the work of Feist and Wilco and were made possible with the incredible help of producer/ engineer Daniel Saa. All compositions and lead vocals by Julie Hill, additional vocals by Sarah Tupper Daniels & Allie Altieri, Andrew Johnson & Adam Bilchik on guitars, Matthew Waterfall Gibbs on banjo, Joshua Coyne on violin, Stephanie Alexandra Lamprea on cello and vocals, Bec Smith on keys, Gwen Reed on bass, and John Spencer on drums.
